IT’S TIME FOR SOME FLAMINGO RUGBY!!!

So you want to join NoCo Rugby?

That’s right, NoCo Rugby is looking for serious male athletes of all rugby abilities to join our campaign.  Founded in Fort Collins in 1978, the club has represented Northern Colorado in one of the fastest growing sports in the nation.  Over the years, NoCo Rugby has experienced many successes, including most recently a 2011 league championship and bid to the USA Rugby National Tournament round of 32.

Rugby is a dynamic sport, requiring exceptional athleticism, coupled with considerable mental and physical toughness.  Those interested do not require any rugby experience, just a great attitude and desire to be part of a competitive spirit that has long been a NoCo Rugby tradition.

If you have rugby experience and are looking to get back into the fold, many current players have been playing for several years and have been selected for top-tier teams.  You could be the missing component for another national bid and we welcome your talents.

Training is every Tuesday and Thursday, Spring and Fall seasons. (Check the calendar for details.) The training location is Greenbriar Park in Fort Collins.  Click on the front page link for directions.  Games are held every Saturday up and down the Colorado Front Range, with regional social/competitive tournaments based on interest.

If you still are on the fence and want to speak to someone live about the prospect of joining the team, we hope you will fill out the form on the Contacts Page. We’ll get back with you ASAP.

COME BE PART OF A GREAT SPORT AND TRADITION!  JOIN NOCO RUGBY AND HELP US EARN ANOTHER BID TO THE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT!  SEE YOU AT TRAINING!

2011 Fall Training

Join us every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 for training.  Sessions are held at Boltz Jr. High School in Fort Collins.  Players of all skill level are welcome and we create a great atmosphere for new players to learn the game.  Bring sturdy clothes, cleats, and a desire to participate in one of the greatest sports on earth!

NoCo Spring Home Opener and Old Boys Matches

Northern Colorado Rugby Club plays its home opener this Saturday, March 19 at Windsor’s Eastman Park at 1 pm against the Denver Harlequins.  A much contested division makes this an interesting match.  The Flamingos are in the hunt for Division domination and are taking this game seriously.

Fort Collins Old Boys are leading the playbill with a match against their friends, the Colorado Senior Old Boys with a noon kickoff.  This is a very good chance for fans to learn about the game as it is just like men’s rugby, just slow motion.

Eastman Park in Windsor is located west of Water Valley at 7th St. (WCR 17) and Eastman Park Drive.  Go west on Eastman Park Drive around the curve about 1/4 mile, pitch is on the left.

Come support NoCo Rugby, enjoy the matches.  Refreshments and food follow.

MATTHEW HAMMERDORFER

Matt_HammerdorferOn Saturday we lost not only a team member, but a young man, in Matthew Hammerdorfer, that represented everything that we strive as a team, as an organization and as a human being to be.   It was our honor to have him as the Captain and starting Flyhalf for our Fort Collins Youth Rugby Team.  It has been very easy to see how much he impacted the lives of those he came in contact with both on and off the pitch.  Matthew embodied the spirit of rugby.  Rugby is more than a sport, we are more than just players, we are a family and Matthew displayed this with his incredible leadership and love for the game and everyone around him.   As a team, organization and family our heart is broken by this tragedy.  We would like to extend our condolences and our prayers to the family and friends of this outstanding young man.   Matthew you will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
